No Trash Left Behind

posted by brooklynfoodconference, on April 28, 2009

The Brooklyn Food Conference has taken the Zero Waste Challenge.  May not a single plastic bottle, Styrofoam food container, scrap of paper, bit of plastic bag, empty soda can, disposable diaper, candy wrapper, dead AAA battery, uneaten tabouli, or [you name it] end up in a landfill for our convenience.

Help us reduce the size of our landfills.Help us reduce the size of our landfills!

What We’ve Done

  • We’ve rigged the facilities so you can drink filtered water at both conference sites. (Or fill your own bottle on site.)
  • We’re composting food scraps.
  • We’ve asked our participating organizations to follow guidelines

We’re keeping track. Check the site after the conference to see how we did. We’re accountable.

What You Can Do

  • Do Bring Your Own water bottle, tote bag (for handouts), snacks (avoid deli run for pre-packaged food), mug, plate, fork/spoon. What’s for lunch and dinner.
  • Don’t Bring Your Car. Bike, walk or take the MTA.
  • Compost your food scraps in our special receptacles.
